China has a total land border of more than 22,000 kilometers and a coastline of over 18,000 kilometers. Border defense is a vital component of national defense, and countries across the ages and the globe have regarded strengthening border defense as a strategic mission to safeguard national security and stability. “Nothing trivial exists in border defense” is a concise summary of the unique nature of border defense work. Border defense serves as the outpost for safeguarding national security, and every inch of land and every reef in border areas embodies national sovereignty and dignity. The distinctive nature of border defense endows it with a crucial position in national security and development strategies. Especially in the new historical period, consolidating and strengthening border defense is directly tied to the fundamental interests of the country, occupying a pivotal strategic role in national security.
Border defense corps will strive to improve a prevention and control network that integrates points, lines and areas, combines human, physical and technical defense, coordinates professional forces with mass prevention and governance, and integrates strike, prevention and control. We will pursue combat effectiveness through science and technology, vigorously advance the construction of border video surveillance systems and build “unmanned watchtowers” – forming lines with points and covering areas with lines to create a “Border Electronic Great Wall” and a “Smart Border Defense Line”. However, compared with urban environments, the construction of border defense surveillance and patrol systems is often confronted with a major challenge: difficult networking.
Most border defense lines are uninhabited areas. Constructing surveillance systems in remote locations with optical fiber networks alone entails exorbitant costs and high vulnerability to man-made damage. In addition to human sabotage, wired networks are also prone to damage from natural disasters such as mudslides, making it impossible to ensure 365×24-hour annual operation. Overhead or underground cable installation also poses potential safety risks.
Drawing on years of experience in the security industry, Guoxin Longxin concludes that most areas along China’s land and maritime borders are mountainous and hilly with complex terrain, and many surveillance locations are even inaccessible by road. Constrained by the total project investment, it is impossible to install a surveillance point every dozens of meters as in urban areas. Border defense surveillance points are generally sparsely distributed, with an average interval of 1 to 3 kilometers or even longer. It is often optimal to install surveillance points at key mountain passes, road junctions and high ground, and maximize the video monitoring radius of a single point. Meanwhile, two critical issues must be addressed: power supply and data transmission for these surveillance points. Wired transmission is only suitable for relatively concentrated areas with protected transmission lines, and is highly impractical for other regions.
Wireless technology is the only viable solution to address the networking challenges of border defense surveillance points. However, with communication distances often reaching several kilometers, ordinary WiFi wireless systems or low-end wireless systems cannot meet such requirements. Furthermore, substandard environmental adaptability (lightning protection, rainproof, wide temperature tolerance, corrosion resistance, etc.), low reliability and poor quality of system equipment will lead to frequent malfunctions, resulting in extremely high maintenance costs for integrators in such geographical conditions. Currently, only a handful of mid-to-high-end wireless network systems in the industry with telecom-grade or military-grade quality – such as the iMAX 5G Wireless Metropolitan Area Network (WMAN) system – can guarantee such superior quality and reliability. Guoxin Longxin’s customized wireless video surveillance solution for border defense, based on the iMAX 5G WMAN wireless network system, is the most practical and cost-effective solution available in the industry today.

Guoxin Longxin’s customized wireless private network solution for border defense adopts different devices and further customized designs based on specific application scenarios, as illustrated below:
Integrated with high-definition IP long-range cameras, it addresses the networking challenges of border defense surveillance points.
Guoxin Longxin’s iMAX wireless system boasts unparalleled advantages over other wireless broadband devices with its distinctive technical strengths and superior performance, including support for multiple networking modes, IP67 protection standard, long-distance transmission, high bandwidth, strong anti-interference capability, high reliability, easy installation and convenient maintenance.Designed to build wireless cities and enable ultra-long-distance outdoor network interconnection, all series of the iMAX 5G WMAN wireless communication system feature extended communication distances. The system supports multiple networking architectures such as point-to-point, point-to-multipoint, hot backup, MESH and ring network. Among them, the iMAX-6000 series serves as the urban backbone network, and the iMAX-8000S/H/AI series act as the edge access network.
✅ Communication Distance
Under line-of-sight conditions, even the compact iMAX 5G dedicated communication system with integrated antennas can easily achieve 10 km to 50 km radius coverage in point-to-multipoint mode, and a maximum of 120 km in point-to-point mode.
✅ Transmission Bandwidth
- The iMAX-8000H is a 300/600Mbps point-to-multipoint access network system.
- The iMAX-6000 is a 150/300/600Mbps point-to-point backbone network system.
The iMAX system also supports link bandwidth bundling and routing hot backup networking via technologies such as VRRP, greatly enhancing system reliability and availability.
✅ Metropolitan Area Network Networking
It supports routing ring network, hot backup routing, software firewall, encrypted data communication, VLAN and VPN. With high bandwidth and large capacity, the system ensures the reliability, security and high performance of user private network construction – and system reliability and security are among the top priorities for border defense surveillance.
Guoxin Longxin’s iMAX 5G WMAN wireless video transmission system is compatible with almost all brands of high-definition IP cameras on the market, delivering video transmission performance comparable to optical fiber communication.
It meets the real-time networking needs of mobile patrol vehicles, UAVs and the command center.
With the development of UAV, AI and related technologies, unmanned and intelligent systems are increasingly applied to the frontline of border defense patrols. Compared with the video transmission of fixed surveillance points on border defense lines, UAVs, unmanned vehicles and unmanned ships offer better mobility and flexibility, while imposing higher requirements on networking transmission systems.
In border patrol scenarios, real-time surveillance demands cannot be met merely by one-time daily UAV inspections. UAVs have limited endurance, which can be resolved by building UAV airports/nests for charging or battery replacement. Although UAVs conduct one-off patrol flights, quasi-real-time monitoring can be achieved by increasing the number of UAVs or flight sorties to extend coverage timeframes. However, without a built or reliable network, real-time data and video from UAVs cannot be transmitted back to the command center, which will greatly compromise the effectiveness of UAV applications.
For UAV and vehicle networking applications in border defense, Guoxin Longxin currently offers three suitable system options:
Adopting the iMAX-8000AI series 5G iMAX wireless private network system. This product series features compact size, low power consumption, high bandwidth and support for 5G broadband. Under line-of-sight conditions, the mobile communication transmission distance of a single base station can reach 1-3 km, and multi-base station networking can meet the large-scale UAV networking needs within dozens of square kilometers. The iMAX system’s large-capacity access capability, intelligent wireless networking technology and seamless roaming function can easily satisfy the private network networking needs of UAVs operating in fixed areas or along specific routes.
Adopting the Huanyou low-frequency wireless MESH ad-hoc network system, which is particularly suitable for building private networks for long-range inspection UAVs. The UAV wireless terminal Flybird1400 is custom-designed for UAV mounting. The system operates at a typical frequency of 1.4GHz, and lower frequencies (e.g., 580MHz) are customizable. Leveraging centerless mesh network technology and the long-distance transmission advantage of low frequency (UAV flight control: maximum transmission distance of 50 km; UAV high-definition video: typical transmission distance of 20 km), it is ideally suited for constructing ultra-long-distance communication private networks for industrial inspection UAVs.
The specific system selected for UAV and vehicle networking on border defense lines depends on the actual user requirements, and product selection can only be finalized through further communication with users.
For example, ultra-long-distance networking of quadrotor UAVs is ideally suited for the Huanyou low-frequency MESH wireless ad-hoc network system.

If the UAV communication distance is extremely long, with the distance between the base station and the UAV reaching 20 km or even over 30 km, the iMAX Wireless Metropolitan Area Network system can be hybrid-networked with the MobileBridge 1.4G low-frequency wireless MESH Mobile Communication-on-the-Move system dedicated to UAVs. Specifically, the iMAX Wireless MAN system enables networking between base stations and from base stations to the command center, while the Huanyou low-frequency wireless MESH system meets the mobile communication-on-the-move requirements from UAVs to base stations.
If the number of UAVs is very small, meaning low bandwidth demand and minimal requirements for a full-link wireless system, the Huanyou low-frequency wireless MESH system alone can be adopted in a centerless mesh network mode to directly achieve interconnection between base stations.
